Mission of the Month - October
StandUp for Kids

The Mission of the Month for October is StandUp for Kids, a nationwide charity that works directly with homeless youth with the ongoing mission to end the cycle of youth homelessness. How can you help? Clothing donations are needed. Stop by the Information Center for a flyer listing items in need. We will be distributing the items to students at Independence High School located across the street from us. Please drop off all donations at the Information Center or place in blue collection bins.

Fall Festival
Cakes Needed for Cake Walk

Cakes Needed for Fall Festival: We need cakes and baked goods for our Cake Walk at Fall Festival! The cake walk is always such a big hit, and that’s thanks to your generous donations. Baked goods can be homemade or store bought. They must be dropped off at the church before 2 PM on Saturday, October 20th (they can be dropped off during the week prior to).

Sign up online or in your Sunday School class. Call the church office with any questions. Thanks!

Other Announcements

Flu Shots for a Cause: Get your Flu Shot at Publix & receive a $10 gift card. Donate your gift card at the church office, & it will help contribute to our Benevolence efforts throughout the year.

October is Global Hunger month: Join the fight against hunger. Fill bread banks with your offering on Wednesday nights or designate your offering to Global Hunger. 100% of your donation goes to feed the hungry.

Parents’ Night Out: is Saturday, October 6th, from 6 PM- 9 PM. Drop off your kids and have a date night! Children will be playing games, watching a movie, doing a craft, and having a snack. PNO is $10 for 1 child and $20 for 2+. shelter-deck vessel or at the Information Center!

Music Makers Choir: will sing October 14th at the 11 AM worship service. Director: Lydia Hays

Deacon Ordination: Sunday, October 14, at 6:45PM in the Sanctuary. Reception following in the gym.

Fall Festival: Saturday, October 20th, from 3 PM- 6 PM! There will be a super slide, a bouncy house, an inflatable train, trackless train rides, sand art, pony rides, cake walk, face painting, caricature artists, popcorn, and ice cream! Everything is free, and everyone gets one free ice cream from the ice cream truck! If you’d like to volunteer for an hour (or more), you can (409) 557-5869 or at the Information Center. We need volunteers to help with the Cake Walk, popcorn, the bouncies, etc. Thanks for your help!

Churchwide Lunch & Poverty Simulation: On Sunday, October 21st we will have a churchwide lunch from 12:00 -1:00PM in the gym. Afterwards, we invite those who are interested to participate in a Poverty Simulation. This impactful simulation aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the challenges facing those living in poverty in our community. Participants must be 12 & up. Those under 12 will participate in a separate poverty related activity. Sign-up online or at the Information Center. Flyer with more information available at Information Center.

SALT Luncheon: October 9th at 12:30 PM in the gym. Bring a covered dish to share. The church will provide chicken. Our guest will be Neil Scott-Barbour, British voice actor, who will be bringing us a mixture of humorous expressive readings. Hope to see you there.

SALT Apple Trip: October 23rd. Join us for our annual apple trip to Mercier Orchards. We will leave at 8:30 AM. We will have lunch at the Southern Charm restaurant in Blue Ridge. Cost of the trip will just be lunch on your own.

A 90’s Party (Young Adults): Oh snap! Come as you were to our totally 90’s party. It is sure to be all that and a bag of chips on October 27th from 6-8PM in the gym. The food, games, and photobooth will be da bomb. Mad props and prizes will go to the sweetest costumes. Be there or be square! 470-324-0321or at the Information Center.

Family Sky Zone: Bring your family to Sky Zone for a jumping good time on Saturday, November 3rd, from 10 AM- Noon. This is open to all families in the children’s ministry. If your child can walk, they can jump! The cost is $5 a person. engage or at the Information Center.
